Frederickson lost a great friend and activist on Oct 16, 2021. John Marshall graduated from Puyallup High School in 1962. After high school, he enrolled at J.M. Perry Institute in Yakima, WA where he graduated in 1965. John served in the US Navy from 1965-1969. After the Navy John taught electronics at Clover Park Technical College from 1970-1972. He finished out his career in Public Utilities at Tacoma City Light as a Power Dispatcher from 1972-1997.
Since 1997 John had served on the Board of Directors of the Frederickson Clover Creek Community Council and the Friends of Stan and Joan Cross Park where he was a fierce advocate to make his community of Frederickson a better place to live from fighting against poor developments, shoddy housing, zoning changes and more; he was infamous with our County Council and state legislators. He tirelessly worked with never-ending energy and enthusiasm, bitter wit and sense of humor, and always a ready chuckle. All those who knew him were blessed and challenged to help make Frederickson a better place to live through fundraising efforts, Frederickson Family Fun Run, Outdoor Family Movies, Freddy Fest, Corporate Chili Challenge, and the partnership with LeMay for the annual car show to name just a few. His generous and loving wife Jana supported his passion for his community. Our thoughts and prayers go to her and his daughters Denise (Mark) Cuevaz (Mesa, AZ) Brandy (Mike) Tadlock (Spanaway, WA) Grandson's Lathan Cuevaz, Michael Tadlock, and Jesse Tadlock and his grandchildren.
Rest in Peace, dear friend! You did it! The Park is open and always full; Frederickson is a better community because of YOU!
